UL (Underwriters Laboratories)

UL (Underwriters Laboratories)

Our products comply with international safety, quality, and reliable performance standards.

UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is a consulting company that provides a safety-related certification, validation, testing, inspection, auditing, advisory, and training services to manufacturers, retailers, policymakers, regulators, service companies, and consumers. FSCR holds several certifications covering the vast majority of its professional lighting and electrical conduit products.

The ETL Certification Mark

The ETL Certification Mark

Products evaluated by accredited laboratories to ensure electrical safety on a global scale.

The Intertek ETL certification mark indicates that the product has been tested by an independent NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) or a laboratory accredited by local authorities, under the technical guidelines of different regions regarding electrical safety. Some of FSCR's specialized lighting products carry this certification.

RETILAP

RETILAP

Our products comply with Colombian electrical safety and lighting quality regulations, ensuring reliable and safe performance.

This compliance ensures quality in luminous performance, regulatory backing, and approval in projects that demand energy efficiency and regulatory conformity.

Imagen RETIE

RETIE

The Technical Regulation for Electrical Installations (RETIE) defines the technical conditions for electrical installations and products in the country.

In order to ensure safety and prevent risks, protecting people, the environment, and property.

Laboratory

Sylvania has the only private laboratory in Central America, where all necessary tests are conducted to ensure the quality and efficiency of its products. Among the tests performed are:

Image of two people in a laboratory
IP Dust

This chamber allows testing of 2 IP degrees for the first characteristic digit (solid particles): IP5X and IP6X, in accordance with IEC 60529 and IEC 60598-1 standards. These tests serve to verify protection against dust ingress.

IP Wet

This chamber allows testing of 6 IP degrees for the second characteristic digit (water): from IPX3 to IPX8, in accordance with IEC 60529 and IEC 60598-1 standards. IPX3 and IPX4 are performed using the oscillating tube, IPX5 and IPX6 with hoses, and finally IPX7 and IPX8 in the tank. These tests serve to verify protection against water ingress.

Vibration

This table allows vibration testing along 2 axes (X and Y), using ANSI C136.31 as the reference standard. The vibration force is typically 1.5 G for standard use and 3 G for bridges or overpasses.

Salt Spray Chamber

Used for a salt spray test in which the sample is exposed to a highly corrosive environment, verifying whether the material or coating is affected by this type of conditions. The test method follows the ASTM B117-97 standard.

Temperature

This chamber allows high-temperature testing. Through thermocouples, a temperature behavior graph can be generated for the different components of the luminaire, while also determining the effect of temperature on electrical and photometric parameters. LM-80 tests can also be performed.

IK Impact Testing

This test verifies the degree of protection against mechanical impacts. The laboratory can test from grade IK07 to grade IK10, in accordance with IEC 62262 and IEC 60068-2-75 standards.

Photometry

Goniophotometer:

With the goniophotometer, a wide range of photometric parameters and light distribution data can be obtained from luminaires, such as: luminous flux, correlated color temperature, color rendering index, and luminous distribution. It also allows generating IES files for lighting design, calculation, and rendering software.

Integrating Sphere:

The integrating sphere, like the goniophotometer, allows obtaining photometric parameters; however, it is used for small luminaires or bare light sources. The test method follows the IES LM-79 standard.

Electrical Testing

Leakage Current:

Measures the amount of current being drained through the ground.

Insulation Resistance:

s its name implies, it determines the resistance of an insulation layer. It operates similarly to an ohmmeter.

Ground Resistance:

Measures the resistance of the ground using a method similar to the Wenner technique.

Electrostatic Discharge:

This equipment generates electrostatic discharges on an enclosure, either by contact or through a small electric arc.

Electrical Transients:

Generates electrical transients of up to 5 kV.

Surges:

This equipment generates surges on the line, neutral, or ground of up to 12 kV.
